A small but difficult step in leadership

When working on a group project for a business or an organization, who gets the credit?

This may sound strange but leaders don’t care about the credit, the pat on the back, or the new promotion. True leaders care more about change. Not only do they not care about credit, they don’t want it. I challenge you to try this. Complete a group project and give the credit to your team. How on-board would they be to all of your other ideas?

It doesn’t feel right. It shouldn’t. We humans, naturally want praise and recognition for what we’ve done. How weird is a person who creates a movement but doesn’t care about the merit that comes with it – they just want the change to occur?

Without wanting credit – you release a large amount of unnecessary pressure on yourself, freeing you to make more calculated, rational, intelligent, and more controlled decisions.

Go find a project and give away the credit.
